A-site deficient perovskite nanofibers boost oxygen evolution reaction for zinc-air batteries

Summary: In this study, A-site deficient BSCF nanofibers with a diameter of 300 nm were synthesized for the first time, showing significantly enhanced oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity and excellent stability during long-term testing. The optimized BSCF nanofibers (BSCF-80-ES) exhibit a low potential of 1.54 V at 10 mA cm(-2) in 1 M KOH, making them a promising oxygen catalyst for aqueous and flexible solid-state zinc-air batteries.

The LaMO3 perovskite nanofibers showed promising potential as supercapacitor electrodes and lithium-ion battery anodes.

Linking in situ charge accumulation to electronic structure in doped SrTiO3 reveals design principles for hydrogen-evolving photocatalysts

Summary: This study reveals the unique properties of La,Rh:SrTiO3 photocatalyst sheets by combining in situ spectroelectrochemical measurements with density functional theory. It demonstrates that the electronic structure reorganization induced by Rh reduction controls the electron lifetime, while La co-doping fixes Rh in the 3+ state to improve the lifetime of photogenerated electrons even at positive potentials. This understanding provides new insights into the design principles for water-splitting devices based on bandgap-engineered metal oxides.

First-principles study of structural, electronic and magnetic properties of A-site-ordered quadruple perovskite LaMn3Rh4O12

Summary: In this study, the impact of Mn3+ incorporation on the magnetic coupling and electronic structures of A-site-ordered quadruple perovskite LaMn3Rh4O12 was investigated using spin-polarized first-principles calculations, revealing that introducing Mn3+ ions at the A '-site can drive ordered antiparallel spins coupling and lead to antiferromagnetic behavior. Additionally, the B site Rh has a small contribution to the magnetic properties, and LaMn3Rh4O12 exhibits semiconducting behavior.
