Screening adsorbent-water adsorption heat pumps based on an experimental water adsorption isotherm database

Zhilu Liu et al.

Summary: By evaluating a database of 231 experimental water adsorption isotherms, this study identified metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and zeolites as promising adsorbents for adsorption heat pumps (AHPs). The analysis showed that top-performing adsorbents had high water working capacity and exhibited stepwise adsorption patterns at specific step positions for cooling and heating applications. These findings provide insights for the accelerated design and discovery of adsorbents for water-based AHPs.
