Synergistic effect for selective hydrodeoxygenation of anisole over Cu-ReOx/SiO2

Xiaofei Wang et al.

Summary: Selective hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of lignin derived oxygenated aromatic compounds is of great significance for lignin utilization and chemicals production. In this study, bifunctional catalysts of Cu-MOx/SiO2 (M = Re, Mo or W) were prepared to investigate the synergistic effect of Cu and MOx on anisole HDO performance, with the bimetallic catalyst Cu-ReOx/SiO2 showing the highest HDO activity. Cu-MoOx/SiO2 and CuWOx/SiO2, on the other hand, exhibited a preference for transmethylation.

Investigation of the activity and selectivity of supported rhenium catalysts for the hydrodeoxygenation of 2-methoxyphenol

Younghoon Jeong et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that rhenium can effectively catalyze the deoxygenation of guaiacol, with metallic rhenium being the main species responsible for the hydrogenolysis. Among the supported rhenium catalysts, Re/SiO2 exhibits the best activity and selectivity. Factors affecting the conversion of guaiacol include rhenium loading, the mesoporosity of TiO2, and reaction conditions.

Cu-Al spinel-oxide catalysts for selective hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol

Sutarat Thongratkaew et al.

Summary: The Cu-Al spinel-oxide catalyst CuAl2O4 demonstrates excellent activity in the liquid-phase hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol, attributed to the synergistic effect between the reduced copper species and the copper spinel host. Compared to the impregnated catalyst, CuAl2O4 shows positive effects on water impurity tolerance and superiority in H2 dissociation active sites and reaction free energy.
