The surface modification of magnetic nanoparticles with chiral scaffolds for asymmetric catalytic applications is an elegant method for obtaining a special pseudo-homogenous phase that can be separated using an external magnet. In this review, we summarize the use of magnetic nanoparticles as heterogeneous catalyst supports during asymmetric synthesis. The ease of recovering expensive catalysts and their recyclability without loss of activity are important characteristics of sustainable processes. This review highlights recent developments and progress in the field of asymmetric synthesis using magnetic supports. Published by Elsevier B.V.
