Effects of social distancing on the spreading of COVID-19 inferred from mobile phone data

Hamid Khataee et al.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing efforts, finding a strong correlation between the decrease of the basic reproductive number and the duration of the initial exponential expansion phase of the epidemic with the magnitude of mobility reduction. The relative impact of the timing and extent of social distancing on the total death burden of the pandemic is deciphered using these relationships.
