Summary: Participants in the study had a lower perception of their risk of contracting and dying from COVID-19 compared to influenza, but many were still worried about contracting the virus. They displayed adequate knowledge about COVID-19 and relied heavily on healthcare professionals and television for information. Interestingly, there was no significant relationship between perceived risk of contracting COVID-19 and knowledge about the disease.

Acute Stress Disorder Among Frontline Health Professionals During the COVID-19 Outbreak: A Structural Equation Modeling Investigation

Summary: The outbreak of COVID-19 in Wuhan has caused extensive public health concerns and substantial challenges for health professionals. A study was conducted to assess the prevalence, related factors, and mechanism of ASD among health professionals in Wuhan during the critical period. Results showed that ASD was a prominent mental health problem with a prevalence of 38.3%, and was associated with psychosomatic symptoms and hostility. Interventions are needed to relieve psychological and occupational stress among health professionals.
