Experimental and Computational Studies towards Chemoselective C-F over C-Cl Functionalisation: Reversible Oxidative Addition is the Key

Summary: The study developed a selective C-F functionalization protocol by exploiting the divergent reactivity of Ni-Cl and Ni-F intermediates. Experimental studies showed the feasibility of this approach, with several nickel catalysts facilitating Hiyama cross-coupling of 1-fluoronapthalene under base-free conditions, while no cross-coupling occurred with 1-chloronapthalene.
