Hemodynamic Relevance of Anomalous Coronary Arteries Originating From the Opposite Sinus of Valsalva-In Search of the Evidence

Marius Reto Bigler et al.

Summary: Coronary artery anomalies (CAA) encompass a range of congenital disorders affecting the arterial coronary circulation, with anomalous origin of the coronary ostium and/or vessel course. Anomalous coronary arteries originating from the opposite sinus of Valsalva (ACAOS) are of particular interest due to potential higher risk for myocardial ischemia and sudden cardiac death, but the exact pathophysiology is not well-understood, leading to clinical management uncertainties.
