Terminalia bellirica fruit extract was used to synthesize silver nanoparticles with good photocatalytic and antibacterial activities, demonstrating the potential of nanobiotechnology in water purification. This study highlights the biological applications of Terminalia bellirica and the environmentally friendly nature of its metal nanoparticles.
Terminalia bellirica has many biological applications and their metal nanoparticles have no hazardous effect on the environment. A biological synthesis, photocatalytic and antibacterial activities of silver nanoparticles using ethanolic extract of Terminalia bellirica fruit extract is reported in this article. The diffraction light scattering and UV-Vis. Spectroscopy is used to characterize the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. The photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue is evaluated by UV-Vis. Spectroscopy. The disc diffusion method is used to find antibacterial activities. Silver nanoparticles synthesized by T. bellirica fruit ethanolic extract showed good photocatalytic activity as well as antibacterial activities. The results obtained in the study showed the relevance of nanobiotechnology in the purification of water. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
