Breeding seabirds as vectors of microplastics from sea to land: Evidence from colonies in Arctic Canada

Madelaine P. T. Bourdages et al.

Summary: Seabirds have been identified as potential vectors for the transport of microplastics in the Arctic environment. However, their contribution to plastic pollution in the environment is relatively small compared to other sources. Seabirds deposit millions of anthropogenic particles into the environment annually at breeding colonies.
