Thermodynamics of precision in quantum nanomachines

Summary: This study explores the thermodynamics of precision for small thermal machines in the quantum regime, deriving exact relations between power, power fluctuations, and entropy production rate. Quantum coherence can both help and hinder power fluctuations, and design principles for reducing fluctuations in quantum nanomachines are discussed. The proposed autonomous three-qubit engine has a more reliable power output for a given entropy production than any classical Markovian model would allow.
