Samples of black pepper root from the southern region of Bahia, Brazil, were characterized biochemically and morphologically to identify the presence of galls, using three criteria. This study resulted in the first report of the pathosystem involving Meloidogyne arenaria in the State.
Samples of black pepper root with the presence of galls from the most southern region of the State of Bahia, Brazil, were characterized biochemically and morphologically using three criteria: i) observation of the anterior region of the males; ii) analysis of female perinea' configuration and iii) poly-acrylamide gel electrophoresis technique. Meloidogyne arenaria was found. This is the first report of this pathosystem in the State.
