Synthesis of Cost-Effective Hierarchical MFI-Type Mesoporous Zeolite: Introducing Diatomite as Silica Source

Morteza Servatan et al.

Summary: In this study, high crystallinity ZSM-5 zeolite was synthesized using diatomite from a mine in north-west of Iran as a local silica source. The hydrothermal transformation produced hierarchical ZSM-5 hexagonal crystals, and the effect of Si/Al ratio on crystallinity was investigated. The synthesized zeolites showed strong acid sites and narrow pore size distribution, making them excellent catalysts for methanol to gasoline conversion.

Zwitterionic poly(carboxybetaine) microgels for enzyme (chymotrypsin) covalent immobilization with extended stability and activity

Amir Erfani et al.

Summary: Zwitterionic materials can increase protein stability by preventing nonspecific interactions, as demonstrated in a study where a microgel loaded with enzyme showed excellent reusability and increased enzymatic stability. The immobilized enzyme exhibited higher activity at pH 8.5, with a significant increase in temperature at which it loses activity compared to the free enzyme.

Biodegradable zwitterionic poly(carboxybetaine) microgel for sustained delivery of antibodies with extended stability and preserved function

Amir Erfani et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized a biodegradable zwitterionic poly(carboxybetaine) microgel for encapsulating and releasing antibodies, demonstrating good cell compatibility. The released antibodies from the microgel were highly active, suitable for localized antibody delivery with minimized non-specific interactions.
