Summary: This study discusses different approaches for realizing localized second-harmonic generation using ultrathin engineered metasurfaces loaded with multiple quantum wells (MQWs). By combining surface lattice resonances and localized electromagnetic resonances in nanoresonators, large field concentrations can be achieved, but finite size effects may impact the field enhancement. Utilizing nonetched L-shaped dielectric nanocylinders and etched arrow-shaped nanoresonators to support multiple overlapped resonances locally allows for maximizing conversion efficiency.
