Non-perturbative effects in corrections to quantum master equations arising in Bogolubov-van Hove limit

Alexander E. Teretenkov

Summary: We study perturbative corrections to the GKSL equation, finding that the perturbative part of the density matrix satisfies a time-independent GKSL equation but requires a different initial condition for accurate long-time behavior. Under certain resonance conditions, the initial condition for this master equation fails to be a density matrix.

Local master equations bypass the secular approximation

Stefano Scali et al.

Summary: Master equations are critical for modeling heat flow in nanoscale thermodynamic systems. Local master equations and global master equations are often used to model interacting subsystems, with the former being viewed as more reliable for weakly interacting open quantum systems. The secular approximation underlying global master equations may destroy key dynamical features, leading to different predictions in transient heat flows compared to local master equations.

Open system dynamics from thermodynamic compatibility

Roie Dann et al.

Summary: The text discusses the relationship between thermodynamics and quantum Markovian dynamics, proving the general form of the master equation through mathematical conditions and spectral analysis. It extends thermodynamical considerations to dynamical processes and compares results with master equations from microscopic derivations. The findings suggest that coherence is not generated spontaneously under steady-state transport, and the global master equation is the thermodynamically compatible choice for nondriven systems in a bipartite system-environment setup.
