Co-catalyst free ethene dimerization over Zr-based metal-organic framework (UiO-67) functionalized with Ni and bipyridine

Mustafa Komurcu et al.

Summary: Nickel-functionalized metal organic frameworks (MOFs) show promising catalytic performance in ethene dimerization, but often require a large amount of co-catalyst. A novel Ni(II)-bpy functionalized UiO-67 MOF was reported in this study for efficient ethene dimerization reaction without the need for a co-catalyst, yielding highly selective linear butenes.

Understanding the Nanoconfinement Effect on the Ethanol-to-Propene Mechanism Catalyzed by Acidic ZSM-5 and FAU Zeolites

Jiabin Yin et al.

Summary: The mechanism of ethanol conversion to propene on H-ZSM-5 and H-FAU zeolites was investigated using a two-layer n-layer integrated molecular orbital and molecular mechanics study. Four reaction pathways were identified, with rate-determining steps involving ethanol dehydration and ethylation of propene in acidic zeolites. Both zeolites showed similar reactivity for the formation of propene, with ZSM-5 exhibiting stronger stabilizing effects on TS structures.

Tuning supported Ni catalysts by varying zeolite Beta heteroatom composition: effects on ethylene adsorption and dimerization catalysis

Michael Meloni et al.

Summary: This study examined the influence of zeolite heteroatom composition on the electron density and catalytic activity of supported Ni cations. It was found that Ni-[Fe]-Beta catalyst had the highest electron density, and the activity of C2H4 dimerization increased with increasing electron density of the Ni cation. However, different catalysts showed variations in activity for C2H4 dimerization and butene isomerization.
