Tunable ferromagnetic ordering in phosphorus adsorbed ReS2 nanosheets

Junfu Li et al.

Summary: In this study, intrinsic room temperature ferromagnetism was achieved on rhenium disulfide (ReS2) nanosheets by adsorbing P adatoms. The saturation magnetization (Ms) can be tuned by the P ratios, reaching up to 0.0174 emu g(-1). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest that the strong hybridization between Re d and P p orbitals induces the ferromagnetism in the P-ReS2 system.

Design of 2D Layered Catalyst by Coherent Heteroepitaxial Conversion for Robust Hydrogen Generation

Yeoseon Sim et al.

Summary: The novel approach proposed in this study aims to design efficient and robust HER catalysts through out-of-plane deformation of 2D heterojunction using metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. By converting high-yield, single-crystalline WTe2 nanobelts to WS2 with lattice coherency, both lateral and vertical junctions in the WTe2/WS2 heterostructure are achieved. The increase in effective surface area and decrease in electron-transfer resistance across the 2D heterojunctions enhance the HER performance and long-term durability of the electrocatalysts.

Identifying Metallic Transition-Metal Dichalcogenides for Hydrogen Evolution through Multilevel High-Throughput Calculations and Machine Learning

Nian Ran et al.

Summary: Through systematic high-throughput calculation screening, a series of two-dimensional TMD materials have been identified as efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction, showing catalytic activity comparable to Pt(111). Furthermore, electronic structural analysis indicates that active electrons induced by defects are typically delocalized in the nearest-neighbor and next-nearest neighbor range, rather than at single-atom active sites.
