Rapid Fickian Yet Non-Gaussian Diffusion after Subdiffusion

Raffaele Pastore et al.

Summary: The recently discovered Fickian yet non-Gaussian diffusion (FnGD) may originate from earlier subdiffusion, with the two regimes strictly tangled and deviations from Gaussianity in the FnGD regime becoming larger and more persistent in time with increasing optical force. Additionally, the distinctive exponential tails of FnGD quickly develop in the subdiffusive regime, suggesting that FnGD may generally be a memory effect of earlier subdiffusive processes.
