The study aims to enhance the mechanical and wear properties of AA2024/Gr (0-10 wt%) composite by increasing the mixing ratio of graphite with molten metal and utilizing a novel encapsulates feeding technique for analysis purposes.
Currently aluminium composites mostly used in aerospace, automotive productions because of their phenomenal mechanical and wear properties. Reinforcements act as a significant role to decrease/increase the properties of composites. Graphite act as a solid lubricant to improve wear resistance. Several researchers reported graphite reinforcement mixing ratio is less due to low-density ceramic particles. Aim of this research work to increase the mixing ratio of graphite with molten metal and evaluate the mechanical and wear properties of AA2024/Gr (0-10 wt%) composite using squeeze casting method. A novel encapsulates feeding technique was used in this research work to study the hardness, density, tensile strength, wear rate and microstructure properties. (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd.
