Host Suitability for Crapemyrtle Bark Scale (Acanthococcus lagerstroemiae) Differed Significantly among Crapemyrtle Species

Bin Wu et al.

Summary: An invasive insect, crapemyrtle bark scale (CMBS), has negatively impacted the growth, flowering, and fruiting of Lythraceae plants. Host suitability for CMBS varies among different Lagerstroemia species, with L. limii being the most suitable and L. speciosa being the least. These findings provide valuable information for developing new cultivars with low CMBS susceptibility.
