The long-term trend of PM2.5-related mortality in China: The effects of source data selection

Qingyang Xiao et al.

Summary: Quantification of PM2.5 exposure and associated mortality is crucial for informing policy making. This study estimated approximately 25 million PM2.5-related deaths in China from 2001 to 2017 using state-of-the-art PM2.5 predictions and various population data. The assessment of mortality was found to be sensitive to exposure-response functions, missingness in PM2.5 prediction, and errors in population distribution.

Evaluation of gap-filling approaches in satellite-based daily PM2.5 prediction models

Qingyang Xiao et al.

Summary: This study reviewed and compared four gap-filling strategies for high-resolution PM2.5 predictions and found that regression-based methods were more robust, while decision tree filling was more time-efficient. Additionally, CTM simulations were beneficial for improving the accuracy of PM2.5 spatial distribution predictions in all models.
