Enhanced efficiency of polyamide membranes by incorporating TiO2-Graphene oxide for water purification

Anwar Q. Al-Gamal et al.

Summary: Membrane-based separation processes, especially polymer-inorganic composite reverse osmosis membranes, show great potential in applications such as water purification and wastewater treatment. This study successfully modified aromatic polyamide membrane surfaces by incorporating graphene oxide (GO) and TiO2 composite, leading to enhanced salt rejection and filtration performance. Surface characterization techniques confirmed the presence of TiO2-GO composite on the membrane surface, and performance evaluations demonstrated significant improvements in permeate flux, salt rejection, and hydrocarbons rejection due to changes in membrane surface properties.

Low-pressure loose GO composite membrane intercalated by CNT for effective dye/salt separation

Lili Huang et al.

Summary: Low-pressure loose nanofiltration membranes were fabricated by intercalating CNTs into GO laminates supported by CA ultrafiltration substrates, which loosened the GO film and enlarged interlayer spacing. The membranes exhibited optimal separation performance in textile wastewater treatment, with high water permeability and almost complete rejection of dyes, while also showing low rejections to salts under low transmembrane pressure. This work presents a feasible approach for designing GO-based membranes with improved dye/salt separation performance.
