Nanocomposites of reduced graphene oxide with pure monoclinic-ZrO2 and pure tetragonal-ZrO2 for selective adsorptive removal of oxytetracycline

Dong Hao et al.

Summary: By controlling the dosage of triethanolamine, two nanocomposites of monoclinic-ZrO2@rGO and tetragonal-ZrO2@rGO were successfully prepared, with the tetragonal-ZrO2@rGO exhibiting a higher adsorptive amount for OTC. Both nanocomposites show a selective uptake of OTC among tetracycline antibiotics, with adsorption reaching equilibrium in 15 minutes and being independent of pH in the range of 4-8. The interactions between OTC and the nanocomposites were revealed through Fourier transform infrared and XRD analysis, with surface complexation, pi-pi, and cation-pi bonding interactions playing a crucial role.

Is one performing the treatment data of adsorption kinetics correctly?

Eder C. Lima et al.

Summary: The linearized PSO model is often found to better fit adsorption kinetics data compared to the linearized PFO model, based on the values of adsorption capacity at equilibrium and coefficient of determination. However, nonlinear fitting may lead to erroneous decisions.

The prospective utilization of Luffa fibres as a lignocellulosic bio-material for environmental remediation of aqueous media: A review

Ali Khadir et al.

Summary: This review paper highlights the excellent performance of Luffa and its composites in removing environmental pollutants, and analyzes the key factors affecting its efficiency. Characterization techniques such as SEM, FTIR, BET, XRD, EDAX, and TGA were used to study Luffa and its composites, and the results were compared with other investigations. The study suggests that Luffa-based composites have great potential for water decontamination and possess good applicability in removing various types of pollutants from aqueous solutions.
