Fabrication and characterization of smart karaya gum/sodium alginate semi-IPN microbeads for controlled release of D-penicillamine drug

O. Sreekanth Reddy et al.

Summary: This article reports the fabrication of pH-sensitive microbeads from sodium alginate (SA) and modified karaya gum (KG), investigating the effect of %HEMA and polymer blend ratio on the swelling capacity. Drug release kinetics of the microbeads was analyzed under different pH conditions using various kinetic models.

Curcumin encapsulated dual cross linked sodium alginate/ montmorillonite polymeric composite beads for controlled drug delivery

O. Sreekanth Reddy et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to fabricate dual cross linked sodium alginate/montmorillonite microbeads as a potential drug carrier for extended release of curcumin. Characterization of the microbeads was done using FTIR, DSC, TGA, X-RD, and SEM. The swelling and in vitro release studies of the microbeads were influenced by the pH of test media, indicating their potential for intestinal drug delivery.

Multi-Component Hydrogel Beads Incorporated with Reduced Graphene Oxide for pH-Responsive and Controlled Co-Delivery of Multiple Agents

Sreekanth Reddy Obireddy et al.

Summary: The study reports the generation of multi-component hydrogel beads incorporated with reduced graphene oxide, which are shown to be more effective in inhibiting the growth of MCF-7 cells. The drug release sustainability of the beads is affected by the pH of the release medium, increasing in neutral pH but decreasing in acidic environments.
