Observation of cirrus clouds with GLORIA during the WISE campaign: detection methods and cirrus characterization

Irene Bartolome Garcia et al.

Summary: The study characterizes observed cirrus clouds using data obtained by the GLORIA infrared limb sounder aboard the German research aircraft HALO during the WISE campaign in 2017. It found good agreement in detecting cirrus clouds above the tropopause, with a higher cloud occurrence frequency close to and above the tropopause compared to the ERA5 reanalysis dataset.
