Parameter estimation of hairy Kerr black holes from its shadow and constraints from M87

Misba Afrin et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the size and shape of hairy Kerr black holes are influenced by the parameter l(0), resulting in more distorted shadows compared to Kerr black holes. Estimating the parameters associated with hairy Kerr black holes through the investigation of ergosphere and shadows provides insights into the differences between these black holes.

Observational constraints in metric-affine gravity

Sebastian Bahamonde et al.

Summary: In this study, the main classical gravitational tests were derived for a vacuum solution with spin and dilation charges in the Metric-Affine gauge theory of gravity. The corrections provided by the torsion and nonmetricity fields for the effects of perihelion precession of the star S2 and gravitational redshift of Sirius B white dwarf were constrained using observational data.

Cooling process of brown dwarfs in Palatini f(R) gravity

Maria Benito et al.

Summary: The study presents an analytical model for the evolution of brown dwarfs in quadratic Palatini f(R) gravity, improving on previous studies by incorporating a more realistic description of the partially degenerate state and considering the hydrogen metallic-molecular phase transition. The revised cooling process for substellar objects is also addressed in this improved model.

Can different black holes cast the same shadow?

Haroldo C. D. Lima Junior et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the possibility of two different black holes projecting exactly the same shadow, presenting the necessary and sufficient conditions for a static black hole to have the same shadow as Schwarzschild. It categorizes shadow-degenerate geometries into two classes and provides examples in both static and axi-symmetric cases. The examples demonstrate that nonisometric black hole spacetimes can cast the same shadow, although the lensing is generally different.
