Investigation of the Chemical Ordering and Structural Properties of the Trimetallic (PtNi)@Ag Nanoalloys

Songul Taran et al.

Summary: The study focused on the effect of systematic Ni atom addition on the chemical ordering properties of nanoalloys in PtNi@Ag core-shell systems. Results showed that substituting Ni atoms for Pt atoms is energetically favorable, and Ni atoms tend to be located closer to Pt atoms than Ag atoms.

Effects of van der Waals interactions on the structure and stability of Cu8-xPdx (x = 0, 4, 8) cluster isomers

Analila Luna-Valenzuela et al.

Summary: Detailed knowledge of the minimum energy and low-lying structures of metal clusters is crucial to understand their physicochemical properties. The effect of van der Waals interactions on the structure and stability of Cu-Pd clusters was investigated in this work. Different density functional theory methods were used to explore the potential energy surface of the clusters and it was found that the inclusion of vdW forces has a significant impact on the energetics and stability of the clusters. Mixing between Cu and Pd atoms to form nanoalloys is favorable, and low-lying isomers may play a key role in catalytic reactions.

Interaction of hydrogen with palladium-copper nanoalloys

Alfonso Gomez Herranz et al.

Summary: Doping porous carbons with palladium nanoparticles is known to enhance hydrogen storage capacity. Alloying palladium with copper can reduce cost and improve hydrogen adsorption properties. Formation of Cu mPdn nanoalloys is favorable, with some rich in copper showing higher adsorption binding energies than pure Pd-6, suggesting a way to enhance hydrogen adsorption in Pd-doped porous carbon materials.
