Connecting vacuolar and plasma membrane transport networks

Paloma Cubero-Font et al.

Summary: The coordinated control of ion transport across the two major membranes of differentiated plant cells is fundamental in cell physiology. Responses of stomata to environmental conditions rely on ion fluxes coordination between different cell compartments. The molecular mechanisms connecting and modulating transport processes at both the plasma and the vacuolar membranes of guard cells are analyzed.
