Dynamical study of nonlinear ion acoustic waves in presence of charged space debris at Low Earth Orbital (LEO) plasma region

A. Mukherjee et al.

Summary: This study investigates the nonlinear ion acoustic wave induced by orbiting charged space debris objects in the plasma environment at the Low Earth Orbital (LEO) region. It is found that the nonlinear ion acoustic wave is governed by a forced Korteweg-de Vries (fKdV) equation, and for a specific relationship between the charged space debris function and the wave, the forced KdV equation becomes a completely integrable system.

Three-Dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili Damped Forced Ion Acoustic Solitary Waves from Orbital Debris

Alexis S. Truitt et al.

Summary: Research has shown that subcentimeter debris poses a significant threat to Earth-orbiting spacecraft sensors and subsystems. These debris can generate plasma density solitary waves, or solitons, detectable by ground- and space-based sensors. Three-dimensional simulations of orbital debris solitons will aid in the design of future detection methods, allowing for collision-free mapping of small debris populations.

Accelerated magnetosonic lump wave solutions by orbiting charged space debris

S. P. Acharya et al.

Summary: This study investigates the excitations of nonlinear magnetosonic lump waves induced by orbiting charged space debris particles in the Low Earth Orbital (LEO) plasma region. It found stable solutions for both slow and fast magnetosonic waves, as well as explored the dynamics of exact pinned accelerated magnetosonic lump waves. Through perturbation methods, approximate solutions with time-dependent amplitudes and velocities were analyzed, providing new directions in this field of research.
