Development and validation of a photographic atlas of food portions for accurate quantification of dietary intakes in China

Ye Ding et al.

Summary: This study aimed to improve the accuracy of dietary surveys in China by developing a food atlas with adequate visual references. Using various visual reference systems, the food atlas was validated to show that estimates of food weight were closer to the actual weight when using the atlas. The results were significant among 50 participants, demonstrating the effectiveness of the food atlas in improving accuracy in dietary surveys.
