Predictions of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Dynamics From Subject-Specific Musculoskeletal Models and Dynamic Biplane Radiography

James P. Charles et al.

Summary: This study estimated in vivo knee ligament forces using subject-specific lower limb musculoskeletal models, showing the impact of individual anatomy on force predictions, particularly ligament resting length. Results suggest that subject-specific models provide more accurate predictions compared to generic models.

Barefoot walking changed relative timing during the support phase but not ground reaction forces in children when compared to different footwear conditions

Gustavo Sandri Heidner et al.

Summary: This study found no significant influence of children's footwear on gait velocity or ground reaction forces. However, there were significant differences in other gait parameters, such as time to loading response peak, propulsion and braking impulses, between walking in shoes and walking barefoot.

Analysis of the Relative Motion Between the Socket and Residual Limb in Transtibial Amputees While Wearing a Transverse Rotation Adapter

Corey A. Pew et al.

Summary: The study used inverse kinematic analysis to estimate motion between the residual limb and the socket, finding a significant linear relationship between peak transverse displacement and peak transverse loading. Stiffness of the limb-socket body varied significantly between individuals, activities (walking and turning), and speeds. These findings suggest that transverse limb loading can be a surrogate for residual-limb shear stress and that prosthetic setup can be individually tailored using standard motion capture and inverse kinematic analyses.

Consistent inconsistencies in braking: a spatial analysis

Alexandra G. Hammerberg et al.

Summary: This study quantified the clustering of the center of pressure on the foot during walking and found that the consistency of the location of peak forces on the foot differed between braking and propulsion phases. Contrary to the hypothesis, the center of pressure was more consistent and clustered during propulsion than braking across all participants and trials. This contributes to a better understanding of applied forces on the foot and the mechanisms shaping the modern bipedal form.
