External Photocatalyst-Free Visible Light-Promoted 1,3-Addition of Perfluoroalkyl Iodides to Vinyldiazoacetates

Weiyu Li et al.

Summary: In this study, vinyldiazoacetates were developed as radical acceptors in atom transfer radical addition (ATRA) reactions to synthesize 1,3-difunctional compounds. The reactions are driven by visible light and do not require external photocatalysts or additives. Control experiments and theoretical calculations reveal that the 1,3-addition proceeds through a radical-chain process.

Vinyldiazo Compounds as 3-Carbon Radical Acceptors: Synthesis of 4-Fluoroacridines via Visible-Light-Promoted Cascade Radical Cyclization

Weiyu Li et al.

Summary: Vinyldiazo reagents have been developed as radical acceptors in a visible-light-promoted sequential radical cyclization reaction, providing a mechanistically distinct pathway for achieving (3 + 3) cyclization. The reaction allows for the introduction of a fluorine atom to the acridine skeleton from acyclic building blocks, resulting in 4-fluoroacridines with pronounced fluorescent properties in the solid state.

Rhodium-catalyzed cascade reactions of triazoles with organoselenium compounds - a combined experimental and mechanistic study†

Fang Li et al.

Summary: Our studies on the reaction of organoselenium compounds with triazoles reveal two different cascade reactions, shedding light on the multiple roles of organoselenium compounds in rearrangement reactions and mediating a free ylide reaction mechanism. Theoretical and experimental studies were conducted to provide an understanding of the reaction mechanism.
