Polysilsesquioxane-based organic-inorganic hybrid nanomaterials and their applications towards organic photovoltaics

Hemali Rathnayake et al.

Summary: Controlling the three-dimensional distribution and morphology of organic semiconductor materials in thin film device architecture is crucial for the advancement of organic electronics, especially in organic photovoltaics. Functional silsesquioxane-based organic-inorganic hybrid nanostructures show great potential as building blocks for OPVs, with advancements in synthetic techniques and performance improvements for solar energy harvesting.

Formation Mechanism of Monodispersed Polysilsesquioxane Spheres in One-Step Sol-Gel Method

Chunli Han et al.

Summary: The formation process of monodispersed polysilsesquioxane (PSQ) spheres was revealed for the first time, showing a four-stage mechanism including rapid hydrolysis and growth, formation of aggregates, dispersed particle growth, and slow growth to form monodispersed PSQ spheres. The reversibility of reactions led to the transformation of unstable particles into hydrolytic monomers/oligomers.
