Unprecedented Fluorophore Photostability Enabled by Low-Loss Organic Hyperbolic Materials

Yeon Ui Lee et al.

Summary: The use of organic hyperbolic materials (OHMs) has demonstrated an optical platform for achieving unprecedented fluorophore photostability without the need for any chemical specificity. This new platform, with its low-loss hyperbolic dispersion and large Purcell effect in the visible spectral range, may open up opportunities in nanophotonics and organic plasmonics for super-resolution imaging and engineering light-matter interactions at the nanoscale.

Imaging of Cell Morphology Changes via Metamaterial-Assisted Photobleaching Microscopy

Yeon Ui Lee et al.

Summary: This study presents an application of metamaterial-assisted photobleaching microscopy (MAPM) with high-axial resolution to characterize morphological properties of living cells, providing quantitative imaging of changes in cell morphology through topographic and statistical analysis. The time-lapse topography image obtained using metamaterial-induced photostability offers insights into growth factor induced changes in cell morphology with high-axial resolution.

Metamaterial assisted illumination nanoscopy via random super-resolution speckles

Yeon Ui Lee et al.

Summary: Structured illumination microscopy is typically limited to 2 times spatial resolution improvement over the diffraction limit. In this work, the authors introduce a metamaterial structure to generate speckle-like sub-diffraction limit illumination patterns in the near field, achieving a 7-fold resolution improvement down to 40nm.
