Metal iodates are attracting research interest for their potential application as nonlinear optical crystals; exploration is mainly focused on complex cation iodates; while iodates with multiple anion groups are rarely reported, this study successfully synthesized a noncentrosymmetric alkaline-metal iodate-sulfate, Na-7(IO3)(SO4)(3).
Metal iodates are of current research interest because of their potential application as nonlinear optical crystals but the exploration of new iodates is mainly concentrated on complex cation iodates. In contrast, iodates with multiple anion groups are rarely reported. In this communication, the first noncentrosymmetric alkaline-metal iodate-sulfate, Na-7(IO3)(SO4)(3) has been designed, synthesized and characterized.
