Post-Lithium-Ion Battery Era: Recent Advances in Rechargeable Potassium-Ion Batteries

Bo Wang et al.

Summary: Due to the scarcity of lithium resources and the increasing demand for electricity storage, potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) have been considered a promising alternative due to their abundant potassium resources, low cost, and similar redox potential to lithium metal. However, PIBs lack sufficient competitiveness in electrochemical efficiency due to the larger molar volume of potassium ions. Therefore, finding suitable anode and cathode materials is currently the most important task for the better application and development of PIBs.
