Trends in intake and outcomes for European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) in the Czech rescue centers

Gabriela Lukesova et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the intake and outcomes trends of European hedgehogs admitted to rescue centers in the Czech Republic from 2010 to 2019. It found that hedgehogs admitted after falls into pits had the highest release rate, while poisoned hedgehogs had the least success. Some hedgehogs did not require human care, and those released had a higher success rate, but there were still a significant number of deaths or euthanasia cases.
