Antarctic Bottom Water and North Atlantic Deep Water in CMIP6 models

Celine Heuze

Summary: Climate models in CMIP6 have shown improvements in representing Antarctic shelf processes and reducing biases in bottom density, but still exhibit issues in deep and bottom water formation, particularly in the Southern Ocean and North Atlantic regions. Further improvements are needed to address the deep convection biases and accurately represent the formation of deep and bottom water.
