Antibacterial and antibiofilm activities of silver-decorated zinc ferrite nanoparticles synthesized by a gamma irradiation-coupled sol-gel method against some pathogenic bacteria from medical operating room surfaces

Bi-functional NiO-ZnO nanocomposite: Synthesis, characterization, antibacterial and photo assisted degradation study

Summary: NiO-ZnO mixed metal oxide nanocomposite was successfully synthesized using a chemical homogeneous precipitation method and exhibited a high photocatalytic activity as well as effective antibacterial properties against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. The nanocomposite showed a stable structure with small particle size and uniform adsorption of methylene blue on its surface, leading to efficient dye removal. Additionally, the release of intracellular components from bacteria cells upon interaction with the nanocomposite suggested a mechanism of action involving disruption of cell integrity and permeability.

Anti-bacterial and wound healing-promoting effects of zinc ferrite nanoparticles

Summary: The study demonstrated that zinc ferrite nanoparticles (ZnFe2O4 NPs) exhibited promising bactericidal potential, cytocompatibility, and wound healing properties. ZnFe2O4 NPs showed dose-dependent cytotoxic effects on human dermal fibroblasts and effectively killed both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria through various mechanisms. Additionally, ZnFe2O4 NPs improved cell migration and proliferation, as well as facilitated wound healing in vitro.
