Single- and double-ionization processes using Gaussian-type orbitals: Benchmark on antiproton-helium collisions in the keV-energy range

J. W. Gao et al.

Summary: In this research, a method for calculating ionization cross sections in ion-atom and ion-molecule collisions using Gaussian basis sets was proposed and successfully tested in antiproton-helium collisions, showing good agreement with numerically exact calculations. This approach can be applied in challenging nonperturbative collisional systems, opening up possibilities for further investigation into multiple ionization processes in multicenter polyelectronic systems.
