Rotational Dynamics of Fullerenes in the Molecular Crystal of Fullerite

Mikhail Alekseevich Bubenchikov et al.

Summary: This work explores gyroscopic phenomena between a rotating fullerene molecule and an incident xenon atom using classical molecular physics methods. A mathematical model is constructed and implemented to reveal that under specific parameters, Newtonian approach can be applied without involving quantum mechanics.

Effect of Discrete Breathers on the Specific Heat of a Nonlinear Chain

Mohit Singh et al.

Summary: Analysis of a nonlinear chain with sixth-order polynomial on-site potential shows that specific heat of the system is affected by long-living discrete breathers (DBs), which reduce (increase) the specific heat in the case of hard-type (soft-type) anharmonicity. The total-to-kinetic-energy ratio is minimal (maximal) in the regime of maximal energy localization by DBs under hard-type (soft-type) anharmonicity.

Nonlinear localized modes in two-dimensional hexagonally-packed magnetic lattices

Christopher Chong et al.

Summary: The study examines nonlinear localized modes in a two-dimensional array of repelling magnets, with a model that shows qualitative agreement between theory and experiments. Spatial decay is direction-dependent, and different driving directions lead to different types of localized modes. Solutions can bifurcate into time-quasiperiodic patterns from symmetric time-periodic modes.

Mechanism of remote vacancy emergence by a supersonic crowdion cluster in a 2D Morse lattice

I. A. Shepelev et al.

Summary: This study investigated the dynamics of a pair of quasi-1D supersonic 1 x 2-crowdions moving in parallel close packed atomic rows. It was found that when the excitation energy exceeds a certain threshold, the motion of these two crowdions leads to the creation of a remote vacancy in the middle row.

Synchronization structures in the chain of rotating pendulums

Vyacheslav O. Munyaev et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the rotational dynamics of ensembles of coupled nonlinear oscillators, focusing on the space-time structures in locally coupled identical pendulum-type elements chains. Various synchronous and asynchronous rotational modes are identified, with an analysis of transitions between them. Coexistence of stable synchronous modes at certain coupling parameter values and the relationship between chain length and stable out-of-phase modes are also discussed. The analytical results are confirmed through numerical simulations.

Appearance of chaos and hyperchaos in evolving pendulum network

Vyacheslav O. Munyaev et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the emergence of chaos in chains of locally coupled identical pendulums with constant torques. The occurrence of chaos is influenced by dissipation, the number of elements in the ensemble, and the strength of their connections.
