Comparison of [Pd2L4][BF4]4 cages for binding of n-octyl glycosides and nitrate (L = isophthalamide or dipicolinamide linked dipyridyl ligand)

Brian J. J. Timmer et al.

Summary: The synthesis of two dipyridyl ligands with different donor fragments shows that the binding properties can be significantly influenced by the ligand structure, potentially due to the reduced flexibility and size of the cage, as well as the stronger interior binding of counter ions.

Anion binding properties of a hollow PdL-cage

Brian J. J. Timmer et al.

Summary: The [PdL][BArF](2) hollow complex 1 formed a neutral species when coordinating anions were added, with the strongest binding affinity observed for Cl- > N-3(-) > Br- > I- > AcO-. In the presence of relatively non-coordinating anions, 1 displayed 1:2 binding behavior with different binding constants for different anions, indicating charge assisted [C-H](+)center dot center dot center dot anion interactions.

Supramolecular isomerism between cyclodimeric and sinusoidal 1D coordination polymers: competition of tunable argentophilic vs. electrostatic interactions

Heehun Moon et al.

Summary: Systematic supramolecular isomerism was observed between metallacyclodimeric species and sinusoidal 1D coordination polymers, with the transformation achieved through successive anion exchange. The study also discussed the differences in photophysical properties between the two structures on solvent adsorption.
