Hydrothermal hydrodeoxygenation of palmitic acid over Pt/C catalyst: Mechanism and kinetic modeling

Summary: This study investigates the mechanism and kinetics of catalytic hydrodeoxygenation of palmitic acid under hydrothermal conditions, revealing that 1-hexadecanol acts as a decarboxylation inhibitor with high adsorption equilibrium constants on the catalyst. Decarboxylation is identified as the main deoxygenation pathway despite the presence of in-situ H-2.
