Recently Developed Carbohydrate Based Gelators and Their Applications

Joedian Morris et al.

Summary: Carbohydrate based low molecular weight gelators have been a popular subject of study in the past decade, with high significance as biocompatible materials and renewable resources. Researchers have adopted a bottom-up strategy in designing gelators, resulting in multiple classes of molecular gelators through rational design and serendipitous discoveries. These gelators have a wide range of applications in environmental remediation, ion sensing, drug delivery, etc.

Titania modified gum tragacanth based hydrogel nanocomposite for water remediation

Bhawna Sharma et al.

Summary: In this study, GumT-cl-HEMA hydrogel was synthesized with maximum swelling achieved by green polymerization technique, and further modified using TiO2 nanoparticles to create GumT-cl-HEMA/TiO2 hydrogel composite. The composite showed increased adsorption rates and stability, successfully removing malachite green dye from water.
