Modulating the Acidic and Basic Site Concentration of Metal-Organic Framework Derivatives to Promote the Carbon Dioxide Epoxidation Reaction

Jinhua Ji et al.

Summary: Metal-organic framework (MOF) is an ideal precursor/template for porous carbon, and its active components can be uniformly doped, which makes it suitable for applications in energy storage and catalytic conversion fields. By adjusting the ratio of bimetallic Zn2+/Co2+ ions in the precursor, the resulting M-N-C material can exhibit different Co contents and basic site concentrations, ultimately affecting the catalytic properties of the material. Adjusting the acidic/basic sites in M-N-C materials through volatilization of volatile metals can provide an effective strategy for tuning the catalysis of MOF derivatives with porphyrin structure.

A facile fabrication of a multi-functional and hierarchical Zn-based MOF as an efficient catalyst for CO2 fixation at room-temperature

Jianwen Lan et al.

Summary: Carboxyl-containing and amine-rich Zn-MOF was synthesized using a simple stirring method, with the addition of organic amines reducing synthesis time to 2 hours. The hierarchical pores in the obtained Zn-MOF facilitated substrate diffusion and interaction with CO2, resulting in efficient catalysis of CO2 fixation with epoxides. The catalyst showed improved activity compared to traditional Zn-MOF, with a 97% yield of propene carbonate achieved at room temperature.
