Latex-Based Membrane for Oily Wastewater Filtration: Study on the Sulfur Concentration Effect

Summary: Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) latex/graphene oxide (GO) membranes were fabricated using a new method involving latex compounding and curing. This study evaluated the effect of sulfur loading on the morphology, crosslink density, tensile properties, permeation flux, and oil rejection rate performance of the membranes. Results showed that sulfur loading significantly influenced the surface morphology, integrity, strength, water flux, and oil rejection rate of the membranes, with 1.0 phr sulfur showing the highest water flux value and oil rejection rate.

Synthesis of tungsten oxide/ amino-functionalized sugarcane bagasse derived-carbon quantum dots (WO3/N-CQDs) composites for methylene blue removal

Summary: In this study, a tungsten oxide/amino-functionalized sugarcane bagasse derived-carbon quantum dots (WO3/N-CQDs) composite was successfully prepared through a simple mixing process, exhibiting enhanced adsorption and photocatalytic degradation performance compared to pristine WO3. The WO3/N-CQDs EDA 2.5% composite showed the best performance in terms of MB removal efficiency, removal rate constant, and COD removal efficiency, with good stability after three degradation cycles. The combination of N-CQDs and WO3 resulted in improved photodegradation, showing significant potential for wastewater treatment.
