Anomalous High-Temperature Superconductivity in YH6

Ivan A. Troyan et al.

Summary: The study reports the synthesis of a new high-temperature superconductor, yttrium hexahydride Im3 over bar m-YH6, which exhibits a superconducting transition temperature of approximately 224 K at 166 GPa. The results show YH6 has a surprisingly high upper critical magnetic field, supporting phonon-assisted superconductivity.

Quantum and Classical Proton Diffusion in Superconducting Clathrate Hydrides

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: The discovery of near room temperature superconductivity in clathrate hydrides has sparked the search for higher temperature superconductors and a deeper understanding of the physical phenomena involved. Through ab initio path integral simulations of clathrate superhydride Li2MgH16, researchers found that proton diffusion in this system is remarkably high, suggesting a coexistence of proton quantum diffusion and hydrogen-induced superconductivity with implications for other high-temperature superconducting hydrides.

LaBH8: Towards high-Tc low-pressure superconductivity in ternary superhydrides

Simone Di Cataldo et al.

Summary: In this paper, a new high-Tc hydride superconductor, LaBH8, is computationally predicted to have a Tc of 126 K at a pressure of 50 GPa, making it thermodynamically stable above 100 GPa and dynamically stable down to 40 GPa. LaBH8's unique structure, a ternary sodalite-like hydride, is stabilized by a metallic hydrogen sublattice supported by La-B scaffolding, allowing for a more efficient packing of atoms than in binary sodalite hydrides due to the combination of elements of different sizes.
