Visualization of the strain-induced topological phase transition in a quasi-one-dimensional superconductor TaSe3

Chun Lin et al.

Summary: Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy is utilized to track the evolution of the electronic band structure of TaSe3 during a strain-driven topological phase transition. It is demonstrated that the quasi-one-dimensional superconductor TaSe3 undergoes reversible strain-induced topological phase transitions from a strong topological insulator phase to topologically trivial semimetal and band insulating phases. TaSe3 provides a promising platform for engineering topological spintronics, such as an on/off switch for a spin current resistant to impurity scattering.

Induced anomalous Hall effect of massive Dirac fermions in ZrTe5 and HfTe5 thin flakes

Yanzhao Liu et al.

Summary: Through detailed experiments and calculations, this study reveals that the saturation of AHE in ZrTe5 and HfTe5 thin flakes is related to the splitting of massive Dirac bands without Weyl points, rather than being caused by the presence of Weyl points. This model not only identifies the nature of the thin flake samples, but also serves as a tool for probing the band structure topology in topological materials.

Planar Hall effect with sixfold oscillations in a Dirac antiperovskite

D. Huang et al.

Summary: The planar Hall effect has recently attracted attention in a wide range of topological metals and insulators, including antiperovskites. Unusual sixfold oscillations were observed in Sr3SnO, indicating a richer interplay of microscopic processes in this material.

Temperature Dependent In-Plane Anisotropic Magnetoresistance in HfTe5 Thin Layers

Peng Wang et al.

Summary: The study reports the observation of in-plane anisotropic magnetoresistance and planar Hall effect in non-magnetic HfTe5 thin layers. The anisotropic magnetoresistance is strongly dependent on the critical resistivity anomaly temperature T-p, showing negative magnetoresistance below T-p. The negative longitudinal magnetoresistance in HfTe5 thin layers may be attributed to reduced spin scattering caused by in-plane magnetic field driven coupling between top and bottom surface states.
