Sao Paulo potential version 2 (SPP2) and Brazilian nuclear potential (BNP)

L. C. Chamon et al.

Summary: The REGINA code calculates nuclear potentials based on the Sao Paulo potential version 2 (SPP2) and the Brazilian nuclear potential (BNP), using nuclear densities from the Dirac-Hartree-Bogoliubov model. Elastic scattering cross sections are obtained within the optical model framework. The code also integrates the Schrodinger equation with a complex optical potential to obtain S-matrix and elastic scattering cross sections for a given system and energy, with a maximum supported angular momentum of 2000.

Charge radii of exotic potassium isotopes challenge nuclear theory and the magic character of N=32

A. Koszorus et al.

Summary: Nuclear charge radii serve as sensitive probes of the nucleon-nucleon interaction and nuclear matter properties, posing a challenge for nuclear theory. Experimental evidence suggests a new magic neutron number at N=32 in the calcium region, with unexpectedly large increases in charge radii raising questions about nuclear size evolution in neutron-rich systems. Advanced nuclear theories offer different explanations for the odd-even variations and notable increase in charge radii beyond N=28, highlighting limitations in our understanding of neutron-rich systems and issues in current nuclear theory models.

Effect of increasing neutron-excess on the fusion cross-section in C12-15 + C-12 at above-barrier energies

R. T. deSouza et al.

Summary: Fusion excitation functions for C12-15 + C-12 at energies above the fusion barrier were examined, and the average fusion cross-section was calculated. The experimental cross-sections showed a more rapid increase than predicted by static models, indicating a stronger dependence on neutron excess possibly attributable to dynamics. Time-dependent Hartree-Fock calculations also failed to describe the observed trend, suggesting that neutron dynamics may play a larger role for neutron-rich nuclei.
