One-step green synthesis of 2D Ag-dendrite-embedded biopolymer hydrogel beads as a catalytic reactor

Jae Hwan Jeong et al.

Summary: This study presents a simple water-based green method for producing biopolymer hydrogel beads embedded with silver dendrites without the use of additional reducing agents, stabilizers, or crosslinking agents. The obtained silver dendrites exhibit a unique two-dimensional structure formed on the surface of solid-phase hydrogel beads through reduction and crystal growth. Mechanisms for the formation of the nanocomposite hydrogel beads and 2D silver dendrites in the hydrogel are proposed based on observations and results.
